Skiing is FUN!… and hurts.
So Midterms are over (SIGH), and what better to celebrate with than to go Skiing!
Lately i’ve been enjoying (read: hating) the life of a student. To be honest. I’m tired. And I want it to be over. I know all the stuff about how I’m done in 2 months (that is scarry in itself), but I’ve been doing this for 4 years now. And lets face it, i’m ready for a different challenge.
Well… Midterms finished on tuesday, this year I was fortunate enough to avoid the Full 5 and only had 3. So what did I do? I went skiing. Yep that’s right, i’m a ski-bum. And no, i don’t mean I spend the day on my butt (that’s for snowboarders).
After a Six year hiadous from the slopes, due to a lack of fundage and oppourtunity; the oppourtunity was never at the same time as the funds. I was able to enjoy myself and endure the excrutiating enjoyment of skiing. It had been six years and it showed. But the conditions were the best that Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island had all year. 6-8″ off fresh powder and a 317cm base. Needless to say, I went home exhausted, but satisfied. Hopefully I won’t have to wait another Six years.
So, My friend Lindsay is obsessed with Bassoons. She sent me this youTube…

Nerds UNITE!
I’m Not Your IDOL!
So, yet another week has gone by. My life is busy as usuall and instead of doing productive things with my life, i’m out there socializing, and doing wasteful things like auditioning for Canadian Idol. Spurred on by friends and family, I yet again subjected myself to the mass open audition for the unlikely chance of being Canada’s next music Icon. So… How did I do?
Well let me just say this, it ain’t like it is on tv. There are 3 rounds before you can make it to the big T.
ROUND 1… you go into a room with 5 people and each sing a verse and chorus for a Producer. At the end, he asks 1-2 people to stay and the rest leave. That 1-2 people then sing a second song and he sends them to the next round.
ROUND 2… Then there is the 1 on 1 with a producer, this would probably be the most nerve racking, although i have never successfully made it to this round, i can imagine that they would ask questions to see your personality.
ROUND 3… After being subjected to the Scrutiny of 2 producers, you are now ready to be demeaned and debased by the infamous Zack Werner (I actually agree with most of what he says).
ROUND 4… your in Toronto.
So… how did I do? Well I didn’t get asked to sing a second song, therefore establishing that I didn’t make it into Round 1B. Was it worth it!?! YES! This being my third try, I surprisingly recieved constructive criticism. Not only that, I sang infront of THE MUSIC PRODUCER, Orin Isaacs, not merely a production minion like previous attempts. What is the end result, apparently I have great tone, good voice, but I need to work on the Vocality of my singing. Does anyone know what that means?!
